The obligatory Deathly Hallows post
Hmmm, I've seen better fanfics than the book. *shrug* Not to say that I didn't like the book because I did, but it was so... I don't know. The plot, or what there was of it, was all over the place and the Deus Ex Hollows were there just so that the Trio had something to do.
Oh well, it's over now, though I'd love to see the encyplopedia JKR has mentioned.
Liked:
- NEVILLE. Let me count the ways I love him and we'll be here for hours. And Neville's Gran. ♥
- Ron/Hermione. Possibly the only relationship JKR didn't mess up entirely. I liked how it was slow and sort of always there, no aliens coming out of chests or sudden "omfg, I love him/her"-s. The kiss was brilliant, mostly because I can so see Harry standing there mouth open and going "er, guys? Remember Voldemort?" *snicker*
- Malfoy family. I loved how, in the end, nothing mattered more to them than saving their family. Death Eaters or not, they'd do anything for each other, just like all other Potterverse families. Narcissa's final act to lie to Voldemort in order to get to her son was beautiful. She's much smarter and stronger than her foolish husband. But then, she's a Black.
- Kreacher and his saucepan. ♥ Maybe a bit to abrupt change of heart but then again, he loved Regulus and since Harry said he was going to do what Regulus wanted to...
- Regulus is made of awesome. And no one ever knew. How tragic is that?
- Hermione's Deus Ex handbag. It would've been less hilarious if it hadn't been the same tiny purse she had in the wedding. A tiny purse that had tons of stuff inside it, important things of the moment being naturally in the bottom of it.
- Oh, Snape. ;__;
- Molly pwning Bellatrix. I thought Neville would do it but I wasn't really disappointed when he didn't. I knew there was more to Molly than a house-wife and seeing it like this was awesome. Besides, Neville got the Snake.
Disliked:
- Lupin. He's one of my favourite characters but ever since Tonks came into the picture, he's been quite annoyingly angsty. This time he was practically OOC, or at least out fo the character PoA introduced. I'm not saying that he should've been excatly same after three, four years but saying that he would've abandoned his family is stretching it.
- Lupin and Tonks dying. I knew Lupin would probably die, but Tonks too? Somehow I got the feeling that JKR killed the just to have familiar names on the list: Harry angsting over nameless corpses wouldn't have had the same effect.
- Snape/Lily. I sort of liked it, Snape having a crush and all, but 30 years? He's been pining after her 30 years? I never believed I'd say this but Snape, for the love of god, get a life.
- Harry throwing Unforgivables around. I mean, what? All through the other books it has been said how BAD and HORRIBLE they are, and now Harry uses them without a second thought. It didn't feel like Harry at all.
- Epilogue. I think I'll preted it doesn't exist. Well, at least when I'm not reading fics based on it. *grin* Scorpius Malfoy will always remind be of Farscape's Scorpius who, while being awesome, is not something I've ever wanted to associated with the Malfoys. Not that Albus Severus is much better.
Fics that will be whether I want them or not:
- Snape/Lily, obviously. I don't think I'll read them because the mere thought of fanbrats' Snape-in-love vision is scary.
- Albus Severus/Scorpius. ...yeah, I'm so there.
- Dumbledore/Grindelwald. It was practically text.
- Hogwarts while the Trio wasn't there. I hope someone will write a good and long fic about Neville as a guerilla leader. Possibly with Neville/Seamus. Help me

...the fic will be awesome. It is written!

I never believed I'd say this but Snape, for the love of god, get a life.
Okay, I lol'd at that. Snape was just a sad geek with a bit of a mean streak. D: I had a bit of an issue with Snape/Lily, myself, but I'm not sure if it's the portrayal of the crush or the very idea of it that rubbed me the wrong way. Something just...did.
And the epilogue was stupid and, yes, Dumbledore/Grindelwald was, as you said, practically text.

Same here. I think that at least part of it is that it wasn't as much a crush as an obsession. It's fucking creepy to think that Snape wanted Lily ever since she was nine, and essentially devoted all his life to a dead woman who never loved him back. The scene where he tore apart the photo of the Potters and kept the half with Lily... Just imagine that happening in real life. *shudders*
