Yuletide in summer for Asian media fandoms: y/n?

So, there's this new small Asian fandom exchange thing (DW mirror) and I'm sort of tempted to participate.

It's like Yuletide except it's in summer and it's for Asian media. Which doesn't mean just anime and manga, so one could enter, say, Korean manhwa and Chinese dramas. I know there are people on my flist who follow Chinese and Korean dramas, you might be interested?

What makes this really tempting is that it's only 500 words in July, so it should be doable. And I could just go and throw in fandoms I'd like to see represented and then decide later whether I want to write or not. Hmmm...

I'm currently considering 07-Ghost, Ao no Exorcist, Beelzebub, Karneval, Noblesse, Petshop of Horrors and Wild Adapter. If you decide to jump in, feel free to take some off the list! It's not like I'm reserving them or anything since they're meant for everyone. :P

Since people have already requested fandoms like Pandora Hearts and Yu Yu Hakusho, it seems that the fandom doesn't have to be non-existent. Just small-ish and/or old and not very active anymore. Following that logic, Gintama, Saiyuki and Soul Eater should be okay, too, right?


...No, I wasn't asked to pimp this, I'm just pondering aloud. Though if you want to spread the word, do it. It's probably the best way to get the word out when the target fandoms are small.

I was very tempted (and am still slightly so) until I found out that the person running the whole thing uses ", if you will" in an entirely unsarcastic sense.

I don't know if this will affect your opinion, but I feel you deserve to be informed. *only kind of joking*

That's actually one of the reasons I'm hesitant to participate. To say that I was suprised to see her or anyone from Team Yuletide running this is something of an understatement after the whole Yuletide drama...

On one hand, this exchange may end up in a mess in many different ways (example: "Yuletide doesn't accept Asian media fandoms anymore because [option a] you already have your own exchange [or option b] no one was interested when we had an exchange ~just for you~"). On the other hand, I'd love to see more fics written for the smaller fandoms I'm interested in. So conflicted!

Actually, I think it wasn't just the "if you will," it was the whole "Or 'word in scare quotes', if you will. (implied tittering laughter)" sequence. Which I've only ever seen before in novels, when the author's trying to show you how pretentious and annoying the character using it is.

500 words is a limit I think I could manage. One reason I don't participate in most exchanges is the minimun wordcount of 1000, which seems like a whole novel to me sometimes. And yay, the world needs more 07-Ghost fic!

That's what really caught my attention, too, for the same reason. 500 words is something I can actually see myself writing, but 1000 words feels like I'd have to rewrite War and Peace...

It does! :D ...I already foresee a lot of "but how can I choose only four fandoms for my requests ;___;" in the future if I decide to do this.
