I have this particular problem with almost every live-action scene that takes place in cold climate. Oh, wait, it's not my problem, it's the director/costumer/whoever's.





Context: It's really fucking cold in that place.


The problem: There are three important clothing related rules you should follow when traipsing around in cold climate: don't get wet, wear layers and WEAR A DAMN HAT.

No one ever wears a hat on TV or movies! What, do they think we wouldn't recognize the characters? Aaargh! In the above scene, every character was wrapped in cloaks and furs and whatevers, and yet there was no hat in sight.

...It's just one of those things that always annoys me, no matter how many times I see it (and I see it often). I remember ranting about this at length back when I saw The Day After Tomorrow (are the tents made of concrete? why does he still have all his fingers? ice doesn't work that way!). I kind of suspect that my family and friends made me rewatch it several times just for the entertainment value.

omg such a good point! Hats are so essential in cold weather!

Especially if it's windy! The characters's ears should be hurting like hell because cold wind and ear canals are not an ideal combination.

iawtcsm. Cold wind is certainly the number one bane for me of winter! I feel like no matter how much I wear I can't prevent the wind from chilling me :(

It really is. :( If you look at the thermometer in winter in a windy day, you might as well drop the temperature additional 5-10C. I live by both sea and a river, and sometimes walking over a bridge to cross said river is like walking into a freezing wind tunnel.
