lol shounen (or, spoilers because I'm bored. also awake)

Bleach

How long have Ichigo and his merry fellows been in Hueco Mundo again? Four years/maybe one day? OMG MAKE IT STOP. We're going to see the captains and vice-captains fighting and it's going to take forever. Ichigo and Ukelala will fight for one volume. Isshin, Urahara's gang and the vizards (Pendulum arc was made of win, I'll admit that much. I'm a sucker for well-made Gaidens) are going to appear... when? And then, hopefully, they'll pwn everyone and make this arc stop.

And while this happens, Grimmjow continues to bleed to death.

I'm not worried about Matsumoto or, well, anyone because Kubo Tite doesn't seem to have the heart to kill anyone in this series. This is your chance to prove me wrong!

Naruto

...ok, if Konohamaru goes Sexy-no-Jutsu on Pain, I'm going to hurt myself laughing.

I mean, Konohamaru vs. Pain? What kind of crack is Kishimoto smoking? Possibly the same that makes him think that (fake-) killing Kakashi is a great idea. It's not like he's one of the most popular characters or anything! For the record, I don't think he's dead because it wouldn't make any sense (right now, that is; future is a different thing), but I'll hate Kishimoto forever if he is. I LIKE KAKASHI OKAY. But, another chance to prove me wrong.

Also, why is Naruto still training? I swear, half of Shippuuden has been some kind of a training camp and it's getting boring.

But, Team Gai! I like them. In my head-canon, Neji is the team healer which, while a pretty damn lulzy idea as such, makes sense. Would you trust your health to a girl who likes sharp and pointy objects that much, or Lee? Yeah, Neji thought so too.

One Piece

Oh, Oda.

I'm still sad that the Strawhats are separated, but I can't wait to see what happens next. And I can't believe that out of all the characters in OP, Oda brings back Buggy and his crew. It's been so long since we saw them that I almost thought he'd forgotten them.

Also, Hancock <3 Luffy will never stop being hilarious, and neither will the mental image of Zoro and Perona's bitch fight in a dark and gloomy castle.

Reborn

Amano's smoking the same crack as Kishimoto, right?

SQUALO HAS A SHARK. A SHARK. (And fabulous hair, but that's nothing new.)

And Hibari and Gokudera want to beat Irie up. A great example of teamwork from them! XD If Tsuna ever wants to demolish a small village, he should sent those two. I bet they'd make a great team, bonding over death and destruction.

Oh, Bleach, at first it was all about the cast fighting hollows, but there was actually stuff about the characters. Then it was endless fights with other potentially interesting characters. Okay, I can take that. Now it's all about fighting some grotesque things masquerading as characters and it just wouldn't stop. Not so fun any more.

With Naruto I prefer not to pay attention to fandom theories and not take things at face value. It's saves me a lot of frustrations. I'm not going to believe Kakashi is dead before there's a funeral. Konohamaru vs Pain. no comment, really.

Interesting, I've been thinking about extending Fragile and in my personal little canon for it, Neji is the healer for team Gai. We know that Lee can't use anything but taijutsu and I doubt a girl who specialises on throwing things has the chakra control needed to become a healer. Hyuuga on the other hand needs precise chakra control and I'm sure having Byakugan would prove useful for a healer.

I wish we'd get some character development in Bleach. Like you said, in the beginning we did have it but lately it's been fighfightfight all the time. I liked the Pendulum arc because it was more about the characters than their next über-awesome attacks.

I admit that I first wanted Neji to be a healer just because I'm so tired of the girls always being healers. But the more I thought about it, the more it made sense. If Tenten turns out to be the healer just because she's a girl, I'll be very disappointed.

I believe Bleach is a lost case in that regard. I usually love the flashbacks, no matter the series. They are usually rich in character development and actually have stories to tell.

Don't get me started on the female healers. I first thought of healer Neji, because I didn't want to see healer Hinata and now I'm rather fond of the idea. So is Kabuto secretly a girl? Or is braking gender types the reason he got a bit weird?

[identity profile] darlingfox.livejournal.com 2008-12-10 04:46 pm (UTC)(link)
I wonder who's the healer in Team 8? On one hand, they have Hinata who would have the chakra control. On the other hand, there's Shino and his amazing bugs. Maybe it's a rare case where the team has two healers and they share the job.

I always thought it was pretty stupid to have only one person who's apparently capable of healing. What if s/he actually gets hurt? The whole team is screwed if the others can't help themselves/each other.

...it's sad that I wouldn't put it past Kishimoto to make the connection between a male healer and going insane. D:

I've thought about it and I really have no idea. Kiba doesn't seem the type and it would be really weird for all the girls from rookie nine to be the healers. Shino? It could work, but doesn't sound likely. Wasn't it Tsunade's cause to get every team to have a healer. So, if I draw my conclusions right, it wasn't common to have any healer at all. o_O Tsunade and Sakura manage to spare time for regular training as well, so that can't be the reason for not teaching healing techniques to everyone.

it wasn't common to have any healer at all. o_O

That was actually pretty much my face the first time Kishimoto introduced this brilliant idea. I get that he wanted to make Tsunade extra-awesome by making her worry about all the teams, but couldn't he come up with something else?

Because it makes no sense that what is basically a team of walking killing-machines wouldn't have someone capable of healing with them all the time. If I were a ninja, I sure as hell wouldn't accept a dangerous and potentially deadly team-mission without having a healer at hand...

Does every platoon have a medical expert in the army? *ignorant*

I've given up considering those things, because the way Konoha actually works often doesn't make much sense.

[identity profile] darlingfox.livejournal.com 2008-12-12 07:41 pm (UTC)(link)
It bothered me so much that I had to google it. According to this wikipedia article (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Combat_medic), "combat medics are normally co-located with the combat troops they serve in order to easily move with the troops and monitor ongoing health".

[identity profile] fujiko1601.livejournal.com 2008-12-13 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
But does every little group that has some kind of task have a medic with them? Still doesn't excuse the lack of medical skills in Naruto ninja.

[identity profile] darlingfox.livejournal.com 2008-12-14 10:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmmm. Maybe not, but I'd think that all of them would have some kind of a basic training. I don't know for sure, but I'd assume that learning first aid and how to dress wounds you get in combat would be required in the army.

Just shows that while Kishimoto has an interesting world in general, he hasn't paid too much attention to (Very Important) details like that.

[identity profile] fujiko1601.livejournal.com 2008-12-15 07:54 am (UTC)(link)
I've got the impression that every ninja manages the bandages, it's the stuff that needs glowing green hands that only medical experts can do.

Most worldbuilders forget things like that. Sad, but there's nothing we can do about it.
