Since everyone's talking about Potter...

I'm trying to resist reading the Deathly Hallows scans I have, mostly because I don't have the last part and because reading bad scans from laptop screen isn't all that fun. However, I've been reading spoilers as much as I can (because I have the will power of a wet towel. I always read the end of a book first) and if the book is real, I think I'll like it.

Something less spoiler-ish (depending on your point of view): I saw Order of the Phoenix yesterday.

The new actresses were really, really good. Umbridge didn't look like the Umbridge in my head, but the actress was brilliant. She was a cutesy, sadistic bitch and I at least got the feeling that while she thought her actions were justified, she also got sheer pleasure from torturing others.

Luna never interested me in the books but again, the actress sold her to me. One of my favourite scenes was the one where she fed the thestrals. It blended the "real" and the magical world perfectly because Luna took it so matter-of-factly. "Oh, a bony flesh-eating horse! How cute!"

It's a pity that Tonks and Bellatrix didn't get more screen time. Neither did Lucius. Woe.

Was it just me or did anyone else see tons of Ron/Harry stuff? The Malfoy scene, Ron looking at Harry when the latter slept... It certainly didn't hurt that Rupert Grint was suddenly disturbingly pretty.

The ministry and Voldemort vs. Dumbledore were damn near perfect. I so like to see spells that do something else than throw the opponent back (DADA was beautiful for the same reason. Also, why was Neville pretty too?).

The death scene was a big disappointing. I was expecting to see a black curtain, not, to quote [livejournal.com profile] eyesofsue, a Stargate event horizon. And Avada Kedavra wtf? In the book it looked like this:

Sirius dies.

In the movie it looked like this:

SIRIUS DIES!!!!!

Overall I did like the movie but was also a bit disappointed. *shrug* Then again, I didn't expect a Great Masterpiece Worthy of Several Awards.

Aaaaaand I should be getting ready for my godson's birthday party. I hate situations where I have to actually act like a responsible adult because people are paying attention.

That's exactly what the difference between the book death and the movie death is.

And as for Deathly Hallows spoilers, I'm having a hard time not just readin them myself. I know from experience that I won't care if I get spoiled, but I also know I like being surprised.
